Sadly, this is probably the last post I will ever make for our “Ugly House” as we officially closed on the sale last Thursday. We poured our hearts and souls into this house for almost 3 years, and are finally done making improvements to it.
With construction moving rapidly at our Creekside home, we felt it was the right time to put our “Ugly House” on the market. Unintentionally, we listed our house on Easter weekend. We were pretty bummed when we realized this, as our realtor told us that real estate can be slow over holiday weekends. We worked so hard getting the house ready to go on the market that we didn’t want to delay, even at the chance that we wouldn’t have a good turn out due to the holiday. Our listing went live early morning on Good Friday, and within a few hours the calls started coming in from realtors requesting showings. We had 5 showings before 4:00 PM on Friday, and by 2:00 PM we had 3 over asking price offers, one of which was $20,000.00 over our asking price and included a free lease back until July! Needless to say, we accepted the offer! We were shocked to say the least, but were obviously overjoyed with how quickly the house sold, how much the house sold for and the fact that we were going to get to seamlessly move from our current house to our new house! Good Friday turned out to be a GREAT Friday for us! The wonderful offers and quick turn time was a true testament to the hard work that we put into this place over the last 3 years. It was very heartwarming to know that so many people thought that our home was as special as we do.
Putting this house up for sale has been bittersweet. We absolutely LOVE this home and all the memories that we have made here, but we are also excited to finish our new home and start the next chapter of our lives. A new chapter that hopefully involves more hanging out at our house rather than working on our house. Saturdays where we can play with our kids instead of having them constantly tag along behind us while we take care of our never ending to-do lists.
Though we will miss this home, I am super excited to finally be at a point where I can share real “after” photos showcasing all of our hard work.
When I started this blog, I dreamed of the day that I could post before and after photos, but that dream never seemed to become a reality as we were constantly making improvements which made it hard to ever feel like an “after” photo was really the final after. Though we are still tenants until July, this beautiful slice of earth is no longer ours. With that being said, our work is finally done. It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have official “before” and “after” photos!
These pictures will remind you why I named my blog “Project Ugly House”. Take a peak at how far we have come!

Pretty crazy, huh?!
Even though I have lived through this transformation, it’s still hard for me to remember how ugly this place really was. As you saw, it was ugly in nearly every way. When I look around our home and property, it is hard to find a place that we haven’t changed. Everywhere I look is a memory of the hard work that went into making this home the beauty that it is today.
Though we feel confident with our upcoming move, I know that this home will always hold a special place in our hearts. Conleigh learned to talk (and hasn’t stopped since) and use the “potty” here. We brought Blynn home from the hospital here, and our sweet pup Toby is buried under our favorite tree in the front yard. Those that know us well can believe that nearly every memory that we have made over the last 3 years has been made here because we hardly ever leave our home! Luckily, we are just moving a few blocks away and will have the luxury of watching this house grow for years to come!
I think it is safe to say that we conquered the project of an ugly house!

We did a full remodel for ourselves, but stumbled upon a piece of land in our neighborhood that we decided to build on.

You guys really transformed this house and now it is beautiful! I love all of your updates. Perfect color choices, and one thing I never would have thought about was closing off that add on room of the kitchen and making it a covered outdoor space.

Thanks, Jennifer! It was TONS of work, but so worth it! Though people thought we were crazy ripping off 400 square feet of air conditioned home, we knew that that awkward interior space would be better suited as a massive outdoor living space. Even in the Texas heat, nothing beats being in the great outdoors! Happy decorating!
